I have loved your silk reeling/spiral energy training and followed you for years. I credit you with having given me the keys to learning how to start the spiraling energy in my body and in my forms and for continuing to deepen and expand my knowledge. However, as a Massage Therapist with 38 years of service in the field of healing including deep tissue/fascial work from my Rolfing Training, I was especially interested in the fascial healing element of this series.

In addition, having had a serious and untreated shoulder injury (from 12 years ago—that’s another story), I was wondering how this work might help me.

When I first started the arm movements in this series with the spirals, foundational spiral and breathing, my shoulder initially clicked (a bit like a combination lock if you know what I mean—not what you really want to hear). However I found that after the first few clicks, my shoulder became quiet and pain free. This was especially true after I had done the same movements with the opposite arm and then returned to the injured side. Working with both arms in the circling movements was also helpful.

All of this is to say that I am now including this work in my daily practice and wanted to thank you for this remarkable addition to my personal healing work.

What an awesome online course this is!! I learned so much from Sifu Dan about mastering fundamentals and making the movements a part of my own tai chi practice. I don’t think there are many of us that think about how the fascia and connective tissues are involved in our every day activities. To have an online course where I learn about silk reeling and how to use the fascia for healing, what an incredible combination of movements. I love the spiral energies that are created through these movements! Sifu Dan is a Master at teaching foundations! His gift to us, is his ability to be able to explain and break down movements in a way that can be learned and understood. What I love the most about the online classes is the recording that I can download and practice over and over, again. If I don’t understand something, I can return to the recording to go over the movement, again. The recordings are available for me to use whenever I want to practice and go over my lessons. It is also great to have contact with Sifu Dan if further problems arise. There is a lot of materials that Sifu Dan covers but I have time to practice and continue my learning at my convenience. This is a great learning tool!

I am a student of Sifu Dan Jones’ Online Tai Chi Silk Reeling for Connective Tissue Fascia Healing. The program began on February 22, 2020. After 3 Saturdays of the 6 Saturday scheduled sessions, I can honestly say I have experienced amazing results.

I chose to sign up for the online pilot program due to a tear in my right shoulder which I have been addressing for over 13 months with physical therapy sessions, daily physical therapy exercises at home, chiropractic care, massage therapy, and heat/cold therapy, and other modalities. I also have received cortisone shots from my orthopedic physician to no avail. The pain for the last 13 months has been excruciating at night resulting in an average of only sleeping 3 to 3 1/2 hours a night. The orthopedic surgeon told me the only recourse left was surgery which I stated I do not want surgery.

Due to the tear, the range of motion of the right arm has been seriously limited. I could not get my hand behind my back or put on a jacket etc. without first putting my right arm in the sleeve prior to putting my left arm in the opposite sleeve. Doing everyday activities was a challenge due to pain.

On February 26th, after practicing daily for the first movements we learned, I woke up after sleeping for 5 hours straight. the Shoulder was tight/sore, but not throbbing. This week after having 3 online sessions and practicing the movements approximately for one hour 3 times a week, I am now able to bring my right arm to the lower back with minimal pain and I sleep all night. I am amazed how quickly the movements to make the fascia more fluid have improved my shoulder, as well as, my neck which has been strained due to the tear and pain. I can’t wait to experience the results I know I will receive by the end of the 6 weeks!

I owe this to the Silk Reeling movements and the program that Sifu Dan Jones has developed. I believe, this program should be introduced to all physical Therapists, and it should be recommended to their patients who like me worked diligently but had not found improvement. I have already told my chiropractor about Dan’s Silk Reeling, and I will also be informing my orthopedic physician.

Thank you, Dan! I know I will continue to use this program as an addition to my exercise and health program I follow.

Over the past 4 ½ years I have been fortunate enough to know and train with Master Trainer, Dan Jones. It has been my pleasure to attend numerous classes and workshops on tai chi and qi gong which he has offered. Each time I attend any of his classes I always learn something new. Silk Reeling has been one area of depth I have been working on over the years. I have attended silk reeling classes and workshops with Dan whenever I could. His teaching style is clear and easy to follow, especially in this area, which can be difficult to explain. He breaks things down to one small step at a time and is patient and kind in his instruction. One thing he tells us is to practice silk reeling for a while, put it in one of the movements, forget it and do the form. Then gradually silk reeling will become part of your form. I have found that to be true and it has helped me to feel my qi and receive the benefits from the practice of tai chi.

Attending Dan’s workshop on Diet and Nutrition was so informative and enjoyable. With cooking demonstrations, recipes, discussions and helpful handouts, Dan provides you with a wealth of information. Time and money well spent to learn about healthy eating.

Having spent several years learning the choreography of several forms and styles of tai chi, I felt I was ready to explore the depth. This is when I first met Dan Jones and started to explore his Silk Reeling exercises. Dan has an ability to describe in words and demonstrate in movement the processes that allow one to see and feel the spiral force at work in the body. In his series of deceptively simple exercises he takes the esoteric concepts and can turn them into movements that we can each experience in our own bodies. Dan’s teaching is easily followed and I can thoroughly recommend this method of exploring the depth of Taijiquan.

When it comes to nutrition there is an overwhelming amount of information out there but Dan Jones helped makes sense of it. He enabled me, coached me and gave me the confidence to schedule (and eat) healthy nutricious food

The course was easy to absorb. The structure was clear, logical, and effective. Dan has obviously put a lot of thought and expertise into designing it.

Definitely worth the money!

I was introduced to Silk Reeling in 2009 by Master Trainer Dan Jones. In this workshop he reinforced the fact that practitioners who want to improve their Tai Chi skills must continue to incorporate the basic essential principles of Tai Chi (posture, relaxation and breathing technique just to name a few). The Silk Reeling patterns created by Dan are easy to follow because of his unique ability to breakdown and explain each movement. So, as I began to practice what I learned, I quickly discovered that the technique of spiraling adds smoothness, evenness and control to movements in any Tai Chi form. Another benefit of silk reeling is that harmony is created in the feet, legs, dantien, torso, arms and hands. I love this journey!

Tai Chi is full of simple sounding concepts. I kept hearing about the ‘internals’ was instructed to ‘use my internal strength’ or even simply lead with the dantien. All sounds pretty straight forward, but I had no idea how to translate these instructions into movement. Dan’s talent lies in his being able to take these concepts, reduce them to their absolute essentials and then teach them, one part at a time. Following Dan’s instructions and using his Silk Reeling DVD has helped me to get some of these concepts into my movement so that I can feel my ‘internal strength’ and not just talk about it. I will continue to use his Silk Reeling exercises and recommend them to anyone wishing to explore the depth of Tai Chi Chuan.

Sifu Dan Jones’s online lessons are just Like being in a classroom with him. The Zoom program has worked seamlessly. The best part is the recording of each session, which means you can “attend” each class again and again, at any time. I have been able to learn so much more than I could if I was limited to attending workshops. I still love the workshops, and the opportunity to meet and learn with others, but I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to learn at my own pace, and to have more personalized instruction, which the online lessons provide. I am so thankful Sifu Dan has made the online classes available.
— Burgess Dell-Wilson, Arkansas

Workshops have always been where my skills are learned and sharpened. Unfortunately finding what I needed wasn’t always possible. That’s why when Sifu Jones offered real time “On Line Training” I was thrilled. After taking several classes I haven’t been disappointed. We first worked on 52 Fan. Knowing the choreography he brought depth that would have taken me years to accomplish without his teaching. Sometimes he’d show me and I’d repeat, sometimes if more complicated I’d practice and we’d go through it the following week. There was always the video of the training to refer to if I got stuck.

We continued on to Chen. This was ground level and again Sifu Jones met me where I was and I advanced. I love Chen!

This training is a perfect learning environment for anyone eager to make progress at their own pace. When your teacher has the skills to demystify complicated movements and convey them back to you in a simple way real accomplishments are achieved. What a gift!

Sifu Jones is an exceptional teacher and adjusts flawlessly to his student’s needs. Whether it’s repeating, breaking down a movement or explaining the marital application he offers his “tool box” of knowledge accumulated over his years of study. Additionally, he cares that we ‘get it” and is encouraging so we do move forward. My rewards have been outstanding! As students we get back what we put into a project. He encourages the belief we can do it. Be assured Sifu Jones will put in 110%

My name is Shirley Haun and I attended Sifu Dan’s Silk Reeling class at the June Conference of the Tai Chi for Health 2019. It was a weeklong conference and our class had to present what we had learned to an audience by the end of the week. We started with Sifu Dan explaining to us the spiral force. We learned the Foundation Figure Eight, the Circle Embrace, Coiling Snake Raises its Head, the White Crane Sores with Clouds, and the Crane Encounters Snake. We practiced and practiced and by the end of the week, we managed (somewhat) to perform what we learned of Silk Reeling to the audience. I remembered getting up in the middle of the night to practice, to feel and understand each movement. I felt pressured, exhausted because of the deadline to perform. However, I was very glad that I was introduced to Silk Reeling and to Sifu Dan. I continue to practice every so often after I came home but was not always sure if I was doing the movement correctly.

When Sifu Dan announced his online lesson, I did not hesitate to sign up to continue learning Silk Reeling from him. With the online lesson, he would explain and show us a movement(s) and then we would practice, following along with his clear and precise instructions. After each lesson, we would download the video and practice during the week(s) until our next lesson. On the following lesson, he would review the previous lesson, watch our progress and then teach us new movements.

I like the flexibility of online lessons. I can arrange my lessons to fit my schedule, such as around Dan’s workshop, our vacations, events, etc. Since I am working full time, this is the only way I am able to make progress in my Tai Chi journey with Silk Reeling in a timely matter. It is certainly more affordable for me than to travel out of state to attend workshops. The time between each lesson enables me to relax and enjoy my practices. Now, I am able to perform the movements I learned at the workshop in June of 2019 with increased confidence.

Most important of all, I felt very honored and lucky to be one of Sifu Dan’s students. He is kind, patient, and generous with his knowledge as well as a great instructor. So thank you, Sifu, for taking me under your wings.

Since beginning the Taiji Moving Mindfulness Meditation and Resilience Training I’ve noticed significant advances in my overall Taiji practice. It has helped tremendously in my ability to sense the flow of chi energy in my body and in general body awareness. This has spilled over into a greater whole body awareness during my everyday activities as well .

Sifu Dan is an excellent teacher whose depth of knowledge is only equalled by his patience. He exhibits a constant desire to make sure, as a student, that you “get it right” and also that you understand each movement and will continually ask for your feedback. I would highly recommend this training.
— Gerard Van Spronsen, Michigan

Dan Jones is simply an incredible, outstanding teacher, healer, and tai chi master. Having attended several of his silk reeling workshops, I was delighted to find out that he is now doing private online lessons. In my opinion, any opportunity to work with Dan is something of which I wanted to take advantage. Dan has great depth and breadth of knowledge, has a gift for conveying ideas and movements, and is a patient and gentle teacher. The timing worked out perfectly for me to do online lessons with Dan for shoulder rehabilitation, which I was in the process of doing after an injury. His step-by-step approach and constant concern that I stay below my pain threshold have been key to the effectiveness of his work with me. The combination of understanding how the body works, and applying tai chi principles makes Dan’s program unique and extremely valuable.
